SB 990, HCA 1 -- MEMORIAL HIGHWAYS

SPONSOR:  Vogel (Bruns)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Transportation by a vote of 14 to 0.

This bill designates a portion of State Highway 179 in Cole
County as the "Wyman S. Basinger Memorial Highway."

HCA 1 -- Designates a portion of State Highway H in Dent County
from the intersection of State Highway 72 to the intersection of
State Highway DD as the "Deputy Joann Barnes Memorial Highway."

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and
FY 2009.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that this will be a fitting tribute
for Wyman Basinger who was the Sheriff of Cole County for several
years and died of injuries from an auto accident while responding
to a call.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Vogel.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
